Comparison: It?s
hard for me to find a game out there to compare this with, its fluid, plenty of
servers to jump onto. The first game that I would presumably compare to is
KAL Online.. I know what your thinking, most of you who ever played KAL Online
didn?t care for it to much, I on the other hand excelled at that game, and i
find a lot of comparisons with Hero Online and KAL Online. First off the
combat style is very similar double click just watch your health bar... if its a
stronger monster use a special mana... With a lot of MMO?s coming out and
some already out one would think, where is a game that I can jump into and not
feel like I am a noob, something that will allow me just as much advantage to
level up as the next guy. Hero Online is one of them, I found the GM
quizzes to be great break from action and also the chance to win some unique
items, or even money. You also get a little box that pops up you click on
it and press start and randomly you can win a prize. EXP, Fortune Case...
possibilities are endless and add more to the game.
First
impression: Hearing an a lot about this game, gave me a lot of high and
low expectations about this game. I threw my problems with the game aside
and really knuckled down and played it. The graphics of this game are
similar to a lot of mmo?s out there for instance Tantra but the combat style is
something I have been looking forward to in any mmo. Martial Arts combat
style is great, I enjoyed starting out with 3 weapons unable to use them and
level up just to use. I will say sometimes don?t dismiss a game just based
on first impressions, without at least giving it a try.
Graphics (7.5)
Graphics for the most part are good
in this game, something similar to Tantra, fluid and textures are good.
Something that would set this game apart would be to change the cartoonish look
to more of a 3D look, but with a F2P game you are limited to what you can
do. Still this game has me hooked and i enjoy the graphics in a unusual
way.
Sound (8)
The quality of sound for this game is
great, I enjoy the screams of the monsters/animals, as they die. Maybe it
may sound a bit morbid to admit that but I like the bmg, and usually I really
don?t. Everything has a unique sound to it the clink of metal as a attack
is blocked, the last cry of the mob as it falls to the ground. The battle
cry as your character harnesses energy to perform a special attack. The
sound of your character meditating to recover from internal injury
and to recover chi... I like that word Chi instead of mana nice break.
Gameplay (8)
The gameplay is usual double click
the mob to attack, right-click the screen to move the camera angle or like me
just use the arrow keys. You can even get pets and ride able pets at that,
different shortcuts and unlimited possibilities. 4 job possibilities and 4
characters 2 male 2 female. Jobs range from Warrior to Assassin, Even go
with Healer to Hunter. Each with there own set of skills and job
functions. This only adds to the complexity of the game and makes it even
more enjoyable to play.
Community
(7)
The community is massive allowing for
10 servers, and each server has its own unique community. I bump into
others all the time a few of them are actually hospitable and some just go about
there way and continue to level up. They also have available if you have
friends and or make friends who play Hero Online a message system called Hero
Messenger. Or even use carrier pigeon. I enjoy all the options
available to get to know someone in game, and possible party situations to
conquer the unlimited amount of quest available.
Value (8)
I believe this game will remain a
staple game of mine for a while, its replay value is great always something new
something different awaits you with each level. It being a new mob or a
new quest, story, or legend. This game is one of my favorite beta test
games and I am sure if you give the game a chance it will make it on your weekly
play list.
Unique features
(8.5)
The Unique feature of this game is
the ability to have ride able pets or pets that attack with you. And some
pets do both, Martial Arts or swordplay its all in this game. I am a huge
Martial Arts fan and enjoy everything that has to do with the sport. And
for a MMO to bring in that kind of gameplay is phenomenal.
Screenshots: (can be included in the review) i will send in some screen
shots later
Personal
rating:
Overall rating: 9 Market
prospect:
If you like martial arts as much as i
due and all the unique features of this game, This is going to have to be on
your to try list.. Being in Open Beta gives this game the ability to genuinely
hear from the open beta testers. Get the feel for what there target
audience wants and enjoy and update the game to suit its players. I for
one will continue to push the level barrier on this game and go to the limits.
Another great thing about this game is if you happen to fall victim to the mob
your attacking you don?t have to start over from town... You can get up where
you fell and fight again... Hope to see a few more face?s in the game.
